OMG Wheel of Time. From Book 8 through the end of the Jordan-penned books (Book 11 if memory serves) is such a slog. Between that and GoT I’m convinced it’s much easier to construct a fantasy world than it is to wrap one up.
I actually stayed with Wheel of Time way longer than I expected. I trudged through Book 8, and then just gave up. The idea that 7 or 8 books in it's time for a full-scale transcontinental invasion by a previously unknown global superpower, introducing an encyclopedia of new characters, was so absurd I just couldn't go on.
