I couldn't get through it. I made it about 3/4 of the way and couldn't take it anymore. Too B-movie sci-fi troped filled for me. These "fight the CGI aliens/mechs/robots" are a dime a dozen, and I consider this one, although slightly better than most, still a waste of my viewing time. I'll rewatch 'Alien: Romulus', 'Passengers' or 'Oblivian' again. My $0.02.
It would definitely be better with more practical effects. CG really struggles to feel truly tangible. Though sadly, if all you’re doing is glancing up at it from your phone, it might actually work BETTER (which is incredibly frustrating).

I hear ya. One only needs to watch the progression of the 'War of the Worlds' remakes. Each gets more and more plastic -- and unwatchable.
